4 Bridal Trends To Know from Spring Couture 2022

Hailed as the most prestigious of dates on the fashion schedule, Couture is the crème de la crème of occasionwear dressing. As a result, it’s often reserved for fashion’s most skillful ateliers and wealthiest clientele.

And while for many of us, Couture prices may be out of reach, they can provide a wealth of inspiration for the fashion-conscious bride looking to make an impact on the big day. The Story Of. rounds up the key bridal trends for your wedding moodboard spotted on the runway throughout the Spring 2022 Couture shows.

THE SILVER SCREEN

Undoubtedly the metallic of the moment, TSO spotted shimmering silver throughout collections, lending looks an evening-ready allure. Gilded embroideries and shimmering lamé felt decidedly decadent at Dior, while strong shoulders, plumes of feathers and fishtail hemlines oozed downright Hollywood glamour at Alexandre Vauthier

MODERN MINIMAL

Minimalism remains well and truly on the cards this Couture season, with designers playing with pure lines in pristine fabrics to tell a timeless story. Otherwise devoid of any additional adornment, silk crepe and delicate sheers come flawlessly cut around the torso in an effect of architectural serenity. Off-shoulder silhouettes expose a slither of sensuous clavicle. Consider a veil that doubles as a neck adornment, as seen at Christian Dior

THE ROARING '20's

With weddings back in full swing, the ‘Roaring 20’s’ feels due an apt revival. Designers take on the look of the era with drop-waist and straight-line silhouettes, flapper style accessories and delicate bugle bead adornments. Plunging necklines and chic capes complete the look, best paired with simple pumps, a cocktail bag and a pair of simple lace gloves to underpin this authentic vintage feel.

TEXTURE PLAY

Last season’s texture story continues with a Spring-ready mood. Handcrafted crochets, tactile threads and bouncy ostrich feathers frame simple, serene silhouettes that float around the body. Chanel’s delicate floral appliqué in sunshine yellow provides a fresh, youthful approach to bridal attire, while contoured tulles at Jean Paul Gaultier delivers a contemporary take on corsetry.
